Register your interest in hosting an Indie Author Book Fair

Would you like to organise your own local version of an Indie Author Book Fair?

The Indie Author Book Fair initiative showcases Independent Authors by allowing them to engage with readers and directly sell their books to the public. The format is flexible, but usually is held in a single venue that can host 20 – 30 authors. Although this could be more or fewer. It will run for a single day, but could be held over a full weekend and generally runs from 10am-4pm, but again, this is flexible.

The venue will usually supply tables and chairs for the authors to use as ‘market stalls’ but sometimes the authors will have to provide these for themselves.

Attending authors pay a single registration fee and any monies they make from book sales on the day, they keep.

To be a host, you source the venue, run the event on the day and keep whatever profit you make from the event registration fees (minus the costs of the venue, our fee and any other incidentals you decide to spend money on). You are responsible for the overall advertising strategies that will see “readers / customers” knowing that the event is on and of course, to get the authors to join the fair as exhibitors. You will also be responsible for ensuring the fair meets all local regulations and authorities necessary to run the event.

To help and assist, we will provide (and manage on your behalf) our website systems to allow seamless author registrations, author payments and a point of information for the fair itself. We will also provide checklists of what you need to do and a number of “virtual” meetings to ensure you know what you need to do and to help and guide you along the way. We also extend you the rights to use all Indie Author Book Fair branding and marketing identities for your event. In return we get a flat fee paid to us by you. (Price will be agreed on application).

Please note, all hosts must be members of the Alliance of Independent Authors. Attending authors do NOT need to be members of ALLi, but they must be indie. 

And what do we mean by an independent author? They must have part or fully funded your book’s publication or they oversaw the full project management of their book’s publication completely independently and they control all rights to it.
